To encourage students of different ages all over the Greater China regions to unleash their talents on stage, Dramatic English organizes the International Drama Competition every year. The Competition takes the form of an inter-school English drama competition across the regions.
Regions: The International Drama Competition welcomes schools from the Greater China regions: HK, Mainland China, Macau, and Taiwan to enter and have fun.
Three Competing Categories: Kindergartens, Primary and Secondary Schools
There will be 3 competing categories. Kindergartens shall be given a few choices of scripts base on Alice in Wonderland by the organizer. Each team can choose one script or to devise a script or to adapt a script given to perform. For the Primary and Secondary categories, each team can either use a self devised script or an off the shelf script from any plays or musicals.
Kindergartens: Each Kindergarten can enroll one or more than one team for the competition. Each team shall have a minimum of 5 participants. There will be no upper limit on the number of participants. This year Kindergartens will be given some adapted scripts from “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland ” to choose from. Kindergartens can also devise their own scripts or to adapt a given script about “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland” to suit their participants. Once a kindergarten is enrolled and entry fee paid, Dramatic English will arrange the following FREE TRAINING for each of the participating kindergartens:
- one hour free process drama workshop for a group of no more than 15 students; AND
- one hour free drama workshop to a team of no more than 15 teachers.
Primary Schools: Each Primary School can register one or more than one team to enter the competition. Each team shall have a minimum of 5 participants. There will be no upper limit on the number of participants. Each team can use a self devised original script or an off the shelf script from any plays or musicals, of no more than 5 minutes of performance duration.
Secondary Schools: Each Secondary School can register one or more than one team to enter the competition. Each team shall have a minimum of 5 participants. There will be no upper limit on the number of participants. Each team can use a self devised original script or an off the shelf script from any plays or musicals of no more than 10 minutes of performance duration.

The Festival shall take 4 stages.
Submit the entry form and pay the entry fee on or before February 12, 2018. Details please see “To Enter” below.
Each participating team shall submit a video recording of the students’ performance to EMAIL: firstname.lastname@example.org on or before March 19. The Script of the performance should also be sent at the same time.

Judges will select the best 10 from all kindergarten entries, best 8 from all primary schools and best 8 from all secondary schools.
All finalists shall be invited to stage the show in the Black Box Theatre of Dramatic English in April (around Easter holidays, dates to be announced). There will be a panel of judges to determine the winners.
Bronze, Silver and Gold award winners from al 3 categories shall be invited to stage their shows in May (date to be announced). All awards shall be presented in this event.

All kindergartens and schools must fill in the official entry form, then
1. Mail the filled entry form with a crossed check payable to Dramatic English Limited on or before February 12, 2018. Address: Unit 802, New Kowloon Plaza, Olympic, Kowloon, Hong Kong.
2. E-mail the filled entry form with the bank payment slip to Dramatic English (EMAIL: email@example.com) on or before February 12, 2018.

RESULTS AND AWARDS
First round results will be announced by March, 2018 through email, Dramatic English Facebook and Dramatic English web sites. All finalists will be invited to stage their show in the Black Box Theatre of Dramatic English during Easter holidays of 2018 (Dates to be announced). All Bronze, Silver, and Gold award winners of all 3 categories shall be invited to stage their shows in May 2018. Date to be announced. Award will also be presented on that day.
Certificates of Merit shall be awarded to all finalists.
Kindergartens, Bronze, Silver and Gold Medal Awards will be awarded to the winning schools in each category by the panel of judges at the end of the Festival in May.
Primary and Secondary Schools, Bronze, Silver and Gold Medal Awards will be awarded to the winning schools in each team by the panel of judges at the end of the Festival in May.
